Health & Well-Being. Today, a third of humanity relies on charcoal, dung, or anything else that burns for their cooking fuel. This generates enough household air pollution to cause over 3 million deaths per year. Clean cooking fuels dramatically reduce dangerous indoor air pollution, improving health for families and surrounding communities.
Opportunity & Economic Empowerment. With less time spent collecting fuel, tending fires, and cooking over inefficient stoves, women and families gain hours for work, study, or income-generating activity.
Local Innovation. BHLF invests in local changemakers. Entrepreneurs engaged in manufacturing, distributing, and maintaining cleaner fuel systems for cooking.

BHLF is making the most of its Energy Corps grant by matching it with its own funds to support Falcon Gas Zambia, an energy enterprise committed to clean cooking alternatives.
