Michael Dioha

Senior Energy Researcher, Clean Air Task Force

Michael Dioha is a Senior Energy Researcher at the Clean Air Task Force (CATF), where his work sits at the intersection of research, policy, and real-world energy solutions. His research focuses on energy systems analysis and modeling, Africa’s energy transition, and the development of strategic energy policy. Before joining CATF, Michael was a postdoctoral research scientist at the Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford University, where he researched the energy requirements needed to raise all of humanity to at least the current global average per capita energy use.

Michael has extensive experience collaborating on international projects with multidisciplinary teams. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of energy, climate, and development and is recognized for translating rigorous technical analysis into practical, policy-relevant insights. In addition to his research, he advises and consults for several international organizations, supporting the design of energy pathways that align development priorities with long-term sustainability, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. He regularly engages in international energy forums and professional symposia.

Beyond his role at CATF, Michael is a Fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub and a Fellow of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria. He holds an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Energy and Environment and a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
